Inter Theatre Company spent the 3 months leading into July 2013 working closely with groups in Burton, Uttoxeter and Stoke on Trent to create unique and member led performances for the Inspired Project at Lichfield Cathedral. This involved working with established groups as well as creating new drama, dance and choir sessions in these areas. Through the Regent Theatre Creative Minds Project, we were also able to involve Black Friars College, Walton Hall School, Cultural Sisters and The Borderlines Project from The New Vic Theatre.

Project funders and sponsorship included: The Lions, Creative Learning, PHAB, Reality Entertainment, CPAC, Burton Consolidated Charities, Staffordshire County Council with the additional support of Black Friars College, Foxes Biscuits, Tutbury Glass, Prestige Nursing and Care and Lichfield Chaplaincy.

The final performance at Lichfield Cathedral on 20th July involved 10 groups with nearly a hundred performers presenting their work on the stage, as well as contributing artists, a school and other members of groups who were unable to make it on the night. With tech staff, cathedral staff and an audience numbering in the hundreds including parents, friends, carers, long time supporters and dignitaries the impact was demonstrated by the standing ovation at the end and comments from audience and performers.

Nikki – Support worker for Simon and Tony

Drama and music and performance are amazing for confidence and social skill improvement and learning without knowing. I shared the stage with Simon and Tony and loved seeing them smiling and excited and how much they achieved and learnt.

Tracy - Inter Theatre Member

I really enjoyed being in the show, you made us work hard. It was great working together with the other companies. We are looking forward to doing the next show.

Sarah Elsom – Deputy Lieutenant of Staffordshire

What a triumph!  I really enjoyed “Inspired” and, by the looks of it, so did everyone else.  Thank you so much.  All that hard work must have really paid off and a lot of very happy performers must have returned home after such a great evening.

Susie Lillington – High Sheriff of Staffordshire

Can I thank you for a wonderful evening on Saturday, it was truly “inspirational”, and I can’t begin to think of all the hard work that had gone in to it, never mind co-ordinating all the different groups. Well done to you, and your fellow helpers. The singing was just beautiful, and I’m still in awe of the soloists who sang with such ease. Everyone on stage looked like they were having a good time, and I think it’s fair to say that the audience was having a good time too. I was tapping my feet for most of it and trying to sing along.
